A swab which has a rod-like article having a length of 2 to 30 cm and a cleaning section provided at the end portion thereof, characterized in that said cleaning section comprises a polyolefin sponge, in particular, characterized in that said polyolefin sponge comprises an interconnected porous material having a porosity of 50 % or more and a pore diameter of 150 mum or less. The swab has excellent wiping characteristics allowing the wipe with no mar of an object to be wiped and with no residue left after wiping, and also is free from the contamination of the object by a dust generated from itself or by a material dissolved into a solvent used together with it.
