PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque limiter capable of providing sufficient braking torque with a compact brake mechanism by preventing operation thereof with low pre-load spring force till the torque reaches the predetermined torque. SOLUTION: A driving shaft 1a is rotated to rotate an input plate 3a. An output plate 4a capable of moving in the axial direction is installed in an output shaft 2b, and pressed by a pre-load spring 7a, and a ball lamp part 5a, in which a ball 6a rotates and which has a lamp groove provided with two-stage groove grade, is provided between the input plate 3a and the output plate 4a. Rotating torque of the input plate 3a prevents operation of the ball lamp part 5a till the torque reaches the predetermined torque, resisting the low spring force of the pre-load spring 7a in a sharp lamp groove of the first stage. In a gradual lamp groove of the second stage, the pushing force increases, and sufficient braking torque can be applied by the small braking force of a brake unit 8a. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
