<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a white light emitting diode of high brightness. <P>SOLUTION: The white light emitting diode comprises a light emitting diode element capable of emitting a light beam of a specific wavelength, and a fluorescent material which can emit a light beam of the other wavelength by being excited by the light beam emitted by the light emitting diode element, and can emit white light by mixing the light beam of the other wavelength with the light beam emitted by the light emitting diode element. The fluorescent material is (Y<SB>x</SB>M<SB>y</SB>)Al<SB>5</SB>O<SB>12</SB>as a main body structure, and Ce is the center of the emission, wherein x+y=3, x, y≠0, and 0.5>z>0, and M is selected from a group composed of a metal element such as Tb, Lu or Yb. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
