PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-base coating material capable of forming a good coating film in all the coating environments without needing humidity control. SOLUTION: The water-base coating material essentially contains an aqueous hydrosol resin prepared by converting an aqueous acrylic resin having an acid value of 15-40 mgKOH/g into a hydrosol, the content of the aqueous hydrosol resin, in terms of resin solid content, being 40 mass% or higher based on the total resin solid content.
