PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly judge the cause that the temperature of a heating element does not normally rise during image forming operation. SOLUTION: In the case of the continuation of the state that the detection temperature of a thermistor for detecting the temperature of a heating roller fails to rise continuously for l5 minutes even if a heater for heating the heating roller is kept energized in the state that printing operation is carried out (S340: YES), decision is made that the temperature of the heating roller fails to rise normally and the decision processing similar to that of S340 is performed again (S430) in the state of prohibiting the start of the printing operation relating to a fresh paper sheet (S390, S400). When the decision is made that the temperature of the heating roller rises normally in the decision processing (S430: NO), the error state is not decided and the printing operation is restarted (S350). On the other hand, when the decision is made that the temperature of the heating roller 31 fails to rise normally (S430: YES), the printing operation is prohibited (S440 and S450).
