PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise the reliability on a commutator by preventing the leakage of insulating material at formation of a mold. SOLUTION: The commutator has a mold part 25 which is made cylindrical and a plurality of segment bodies which stand in a line at specified intervals around the mold part 25. The segment main body is made by separating a segment base material 33 rounded in cylindrical form, and a riser 28 to be connected with the winding of a rotor is joined with its axial end 26a. Moreover, a flat face 31 is made of the axial end face 26c of the segment base material 33 and the plane 28c made on the riser 28 by a flat face formation process. On the other hand, the mold part 25 is made by molding insulating material inside the segment base material 33. When forming the mold part 25, the insulating material is prevented from leaking out from the junction between the segment base material 33 and the riser 28, since the blocking face of the mold contacts with the flat face 31.
