PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily judge whether faults, such as damages or the like, occur or not in a diaphragm which is provided in a conservator to shut out oil from the atmosphere. SOLUTION: Specimen oil is extracted from an oil-immersed apparatus which is equipped with a conservator provided with the diaphragm which shuts out the oil from the atmosphere, the measured value of the total acid value and/or color of the specimen oil is compared with a previously set threshold value, and it is judged on the basis of the above comparison result whether a fault occurs in the diaphragm or not.
