PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk reproducing unit for directly reproducing a main part and reducing time until the main part starts to be reproduced after reproduction operation without need for many times of key operation and without viewing unneeded information until the reproduction of the main part. SOLUTION: When an instruction for directly reproducing the main part is inputted to an optical disk 1 of a DVD video, and when a user operation determining means 221 determines that UOP is not prohibited, a means 223 for detecting the number of titles detects the total number of titles from the disk information of the optical disk 1. When a program chain information determining means 224 indicates that there is one sequential program chain title, a reproduction time detection means 225 detects reproduction time from the disk information. A long title reproducing means 226 detects reproduction time to titles for the total number of titles for detecting a title having the longest reproduction time, thus reproducing the main part.
