PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for calibrating the coil sensitivity map of a coil used in an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) system. SOLUTION: The method for calibrating coil sensitivity profiles is described. The method includes generating reference sensitivity maps for each coil (50), imaging a subject (36), interleaving (62), with the imaging of the subject (36), imaging of at least one fiducial mark (78) provided to each coil (50), and deriving, based on the coil positioning and coil loading, actual sensitivity maps from the reference sensitivity maps.
