<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adaptive equalizer capable of converging a filter coefficient even when the filter coefficient of a variable filter diverges. <P>SOLUTION: An input signal is subjected to waveform equalization by a variable filter 61. The filter coefficient of the variable filter 61 is adaptively updated by an adaptive control unit 62. A coefficient decision section 64 holds a filter coefficient when the error correcting frequency of an equalized signal becomes minimum as the filter coefficient of a normal operation. A coefficient resetting section 63 resets the filter coefficient of the variable filter 61 to the filter coefficient of the normal operation in synchronization with a switching timing of a head. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
