PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of inputting/outputting various kinds of signals without newly providing a terminal for outputting the external signals or a protective circuit, or adding an I/F circuit. SOLUTION: An ECU 5 of the electric power steering device comprises a microcomputer 10 as a motor control unit, a PWM signal generation circuit 18 to generate the PWM signal according to a command value D, a motor drive circuit 20 to apply the voltage corresponding to the PWM signal to a motor 6, a current detector 19 to detect the current running in the motor 6, and a communication unit 30 to receive the vehicle signal. When carrying out various kinds of inspections during the manufacture, the communication unit 30 transmits one or both of the torque value T detected by a torque sensor 3 and the motor current value Is detected by the current detector 19 according to the control by the microcomputer 10 to an external inspection device, etc. Therefore, various kinds of signals can be input/output by the communication unit 30, other I/F circuit or terminal for outputting external signals can be omitted thereby.
