<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power steering device for a hybrid vehicle capable of generating a steering assist force certainly even when a stationary steering is made with the maximum steering angle. <P>SOLUTION: After the vehicle is started, determination is made for the charged condition of a high-voltage battery 50, the engine cooling water temperature, and the pedalling amount of an accelerator pedal 18 (S210, S220, S230). If charging and the cooling water temperature are OK and the pedalling amount is small, a motor running is conducted (S240). When the steering wheel 110 is turned during the motor running in the condition that a engine 10 is stopped, determination is made for whether the steering assist force of a motor-driven P/S device 60 is too large or in shortage (S250), and if in shortage, the engine 10 is started (S242), and running is made by the engine and the motor (S245), and the steering wheel 110 is turned (S255).
