<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for selective extraction and fractionation of β-glucans having structures such as β-(1→3)glucan and β-(1→6)glucan being focused attention as physiologically active polysaccharides such as antitumor activity and resultant novel β-glucan polysaccharides. <P>SOLUTION: One or more β-glucan polysaccharides are extracted and fractionated by weakening or destructing hydrogen bonding in cell walls of basidiomycetes Aphyllophorales mushrooms followed by extraction under a strong alkaline condition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
