PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for hardly generating troubles associated with dry processing, even if it uses an image forming apparatus having wet development, using a sensitive material in which a water-absorbing value is irregular, and to provide an image forming material suitable therefor. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus for forming an image by wet processing by using a water absorptive image forming material comprises a read means adding a recording medium storing membrane physical property information, capable of specifying the water-absorbing value of the image forming material to the image forming material and reading the membrane physical property information from the recording medium, and a dry control means for determining the condition of the dry processing, after wet processing on the basis of read membrane physical property information.
