A locking catch for a domestic appliance, e.g. washing machine or tumble drier, has a pivot mounted latch (5) which engages a locking hasp on the door of the appliance and which is fitted with a spring to (9) move the latch into the open position. A pivot mounted lever (8) is pressed onto the latch by a spring (10) and has a control arm (15) to operate a switch (7) for an electronic indicator of the latch setting. The lever has control profiles (11, 12) which hold the latch in the open and closed positions.
