For the control of powered doors at railway passenger carriages, a pulse generator determines the door movements. The pulse generator delivers two pulse curves, where one curve (42) is offset from the other curve (40) by less than a period length of the curve pulse sequences. The start signal for the pressure wave switch is carried in a signal curve (44). The timings of the signal curves determine where the door movement has stopped to register if the door is fully closed or if its movement has been obstructed.
