The frying pan (1) is of a standard design with a circular container area with a low vertical border and a stick-shaped handle with an insulated grip. A protecting device (2) with a semicircular vertical segment slightly exceeding the border of the pan (1) and a short horizontal segment pointing towards the center is attached to the border opposite the handle. When a pancake is to be turned or a stir fry moved in the oil it is guided along the inner surface of the element (2) and safely back into the pan (1).
