Process and apparatus for manufacturing a navigated drilling template for bringing in of tooth implant drillings

Production of a navigated drilling template for introducing dental implant holes in a jaw comprises creating a model of the patient's jaw and a first data set defining the anatomical structure of the jaw and a nominal position and a nominal orientation for each dental implant hole. A reference body provided with first reflection bodies is fixed to the jaw model. At least one hole is drilled in the jaw model using a drilling device provided with second reflection bodies. Signals reflected from the reflection bodies are determined to define the relative position and orientation of the drilling device and the jaw model in a second data set. The drilling device is guided on the basis of a comparison between the first and the second data set. At least one drill sleeve is introduced into each hole. The jaw model supporting the drill sleeve is partly covered by a hardenable molding composition to form the drilling template.
