In a process for the production of high molecular weight compounds with enzymic action a copolymer obtained from methacrylic acid-3-fluoranilide and another polymerizable compound, said copolymer being nitrated so as to contain at least one nitro group per phenyl radical, is reacted with an enzyme whereby the enzyme becomes chemically bound. The preferred comonomer is methacrylic acid, and polymerization may be effected by the use of benzoyl peroxide as catalyst. Cross-linked copolymers may be obtained by the copolymerization of about 1% of divinyl benzene. Examples describe the reaction of nitrated methacrylic acid-3-fluoranilide, methacrylic acid, divinyl benzene copolymers with invertase, diastase and pepsin. |
