The slide device comprises a drive mechanism (2) with externally threaded tube (21) and a push rod projecting movably through this tube with its distal end (11) projecting out from one end. A gripper mechanism (3) has a first ring fixed to the threaded tube whilst several locking pawls (5) each with a hooked end are connected to this first ring. An adjusting mechanism (6) with adjusting nut fixed to the threaded tube is located between the first ring and distal end of the push rod whilst a second ring is fixed on the adjusting nut. Several tension rods (64) are mounted for articulated movement between the locking pawls and the second ring.
