PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rotationally drive an image carrier belt, without meandering it, with simple structure. SOLUTION: This driving mechanism is provided with a cylindrical image carrier belt 1 in which series of holes 2 are formed along both side edge parts, a roller which is arranged inside the belt and provided with sprockets 3 and 3' engaged with the holes, to rotationally drive the belt and a contact member 5 coming into contact with the outer periphery of the belt in its width direction. The contact part T of the contact member with the outer periphery is inclined in a direction perpendicular to the advancing direction of the belt by an angle ofθ. As the contact member, an electrifying roller, a developing roller, a transfer roller, a cleaning blade, etc., can be adopted. |
