An electric evaporator of active substances has a housing and an electric heater mounted therein. The electric heater has a heating element and a heat exchanger. The heat generated by the heating element is supplied to the heat exchanger and then to the substance to be evaporated. The heating element consists of a PTC element clamped between two electrodes. At least one of both electrodes is arranged next to and forms a single piece with the heat exchanger.
