A cleaning assembly for an inkjet printer having a inkjet printhead of nozzles for ejecting ink, and a transfer roller for receiving ink ejected from the nozzles and transferring it to a sheet of media; the cleaning station comprising: a first and second cleaning members for cleaning station for engaging the transfer roller after ink has been transferred to the sheet of media but prior to receiving ink from the array of nozzles; wherein, the first cleaning member has a porous member for engaging the transfer roller to remove ink and the second cleaning member has an elongate to resilient member for engaging the transfer roller after the first cleaning member for removing residual ink.
