A cationically polymerizable composition, which comprises (A) component: a monofunctional oxetane compound having one oxetanyl group in a molecule thereof, (B) component: a compound having two or more cyclic ether residues capable of undergoing cationic ring-opening polymerization (C) component: a latent cationic polymerization initiator and (D) component: fine metal oxide particles having a particle diameter of 1 to 1000 nm. The cationically polymerizable composition exhibits fast and good curability in air, for example by irradiation with an active energy ray, exhibits good film-forming property also with respect to a thick film, and can provide a cured film which contains the (D) component uniformly and stably dispersed therein, has excellent transparency, a reduced residual stress and thus excellent close attachment to a substrate and high surface hardness, and is also good in abrasion resistance, ultraviolet and heat rays shielding property, electroconductivity, antibacterial activity, and the like.
