<p>A seal system for a firearm with a barrel (1), a shell chamber (3) and a piston or seal chamber (4), comprises an elastic ring (13) that makes a seal between the chamber and piston (5) when the breech is closed. The ring, made e.g. from steel, bronze or brass, also forms a joint between the breech and barrel as gas pressure causes it to contract. An independent claim is included for an elastic ring with a number of diaphragm lips located in series inside the seal chamber and having as mean curvature with a generating surface parallel to the barrel's axis.</p> |
