PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulation structure of an external wall of a building reducing architectural material cost and construction processes, shortening a construction term, and contributing to prevention of global warming and restraint of architectural waste. SOLUTION: In the heat insulation structure of the external wall of a building, furring strips 14a, 14b for attaching external finishing materials or internal finishing materials are attached so that platy heat insulation material 12 is closely attached by a fixing member 22 pressing the material onto the external wall body 11, and the platy heat insulation material 12 gets a specified compression stress and is combined with the furring strips 14a, 14b to form the backing base supporting the external finishing material or the internal finishing material.
