Device used for dumbbell exercises with variable weights comprises a handle (40) with two side sections (41), weights (20) with a slit (22) into which the handle can be introduced, and a locking plate (30) with a slit (31) which is rotatably fixed to a weight so that the slit in the locking plate can be turned to release or block the slit in the weight. In each case a free space remains in the center through which the side sections of the handle pass. An independent claim is also included for an alternative device.
