An armature coil has transposed conductors (13) made up of sub-conductors (1) in an axial section (2) with a slot (3) to reduce eddy current loss. The slot extends in the center along the sub-conductor and penetrates radially through the sub-conductor. Generated during the operation of an eddy current generator, an electromagnetic radial field leads to eddy current loss in the radial section. An independent claim is also included for a sub-conductor or a transposed conductor for an alternating current generator.
