<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of accurately grasping the deteriorated state of developer over time, and capable of maintaining good image quality based on the grasped results. <P>SOLUTION: The electrified amount of a toner T per unit weight is expressed by E(μC/g), the sticking quantity of the toner per unit area in a toner image is expressed by B(mg/cm<SP>2</SP>) and a potential difference in an electrical field formed in order to stick the toner T on an image carrier 21 is expressed by D(V). Also, a value obtained by an expression of B×E/D is expressed by α, and the value α obtained at the initial using stage of developer T and C inside a developing part 23 is expressed by α<SB>0</SB>.
