PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easily-handleable and inexpensively-manufacturable sludge interface meter allowing direct observing of the color of sedimented sludge, the sedimentation state or the like. SOLUTION: A check valve 3 opening inward at the insertion time and closing at the pulling-up time is provided on the lower end of a transparent tube-shaped body 1 such as an acrylic tube to be inserted inside a sludge settling basin. A gradation 8 for reading the insertion depth of the transparent tubular body into the sludge settling basin and the sludge interface position remaining inside the transparent tubular body is attached to the side of the transparent tubular body 1. When this sludge interface meter is inserted vertically into the sludge settling basin, stopped once, and pulled upward, the check valve 3 is operated, and thereby water or sludge is sealed as it is without flowing backward, and the position of the sludge interface can be measured.
