PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply perform an action for switching a writing condition and a storing condition without substantially moving a hand gripping a writing utensil. SOLUTION: A knock type writing utensil body 2 stores a writing core 6 in a shaft cylinder 5, and makes the front end 6a of the writing core 6 retractable from the front end opening 5a of the shaft cylinder 5 by pressing a knock back end part 7a provided on the back end of this writing core 6 to switch the writing condition and the storing condition. The knock type writing utensil body 2 is freely slidably stored in the shaft cylinder case 3 so as to face the front end of the shaft cylinder 5 outside, and an operating lever 10 integrally linked with the knock back end part 7a of a knock cam mechanism 7 is projected at the back end of this shaft cylinder case 3. In addition, a pulling part 4 moving relatively in the shaft direction by a pulling mechanism 11 to the operating lever 10 is exposed from the shaft cylinder case 3, and the writing condition and the storing condition are switched by relatively moving the shaft cylinder case 3 in the shaft direction to this pulling part 4.
