PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly efficient method for producing a 2-alkyl-2-cyclopentenone, and to provide a method for producing a jasmonic acid ester derivative using the same. SOLUTION: The compound (2) is obtained by reacting a compound (3) with a catalyst comprising an amine and a hydrogen halide to perform dehydration/isomerization reaction. A jasmonic acid ester derivative (5) is obtained by reacting the compound (2) with a malonic diester and then reacting the reaction product with water. Wherein, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are H, a 1-8C alkyl or the like; and R<SP>3</SP>is a 1-3C alkyl. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
