The arrangement (10) can be integrated in the height adjusting system of a surgical operation table. A supporting nut (14) with an inner thread (14a) matching the dimensions of the outer thread (12a) of the spindle (12) can be axially moved as required. The depressions (16a) between the elevations of the thread located at a catch nut (16) are deeper and wider than the elevations of the tread surrounding the outer surface of the spindle (12) resulting in a predetermined level of tolerance. In case of a damage the inner thread (16a) of the catch nut (16) made of a light metal is squeezed into the outer thread of the spindle (12) made of a hard metal and the system (10) is blocked.
