Comparison of the actual picture with the stored, soot-free reference picture enables the computer to monitor build up of soot on e.g. superheater tubes or in flue passages and call for soot blowing. The computer controls the position of the blowing lance and the supply of air for dislodging the soot. The system uses glass fiber cables as optical conductors.
