<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clamping device for elastically clamping a to-be-clamped member such as a fuel cell, etc., in which the degree of freedom in design of the clamping member is improved, and the degree of freedom in setting the clamping force is improved. <P>SOLUTION: The clamping device includes a pair of guide members 12 displaceable relatively from each other so as to allow a compression coil spring 11 to demonstrate an elastic force. Each of the guide member 12 has a base part 13 for receiving the elastic force of the coil spring 11, and a bar part 14. The bar part 14 extends from the base 13 in the direction of expansion/compression of the coil spring 11, and is held slidably on the base 13 of the guide member 12 respectively of the other part. An external thread part 15 is provided on the tip end of the each bar part 14.
