<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development method for preventing hysteresis of a ghost image and for obtaining stable image quality for a long time without deteriorating the image quality while avoiding fog. <P>SOLUTION: A development apparatus equipped with an electrostatic latent image carrier 3, a development roll 2 disposed opposing to the image carrier, and a magnetic roll 1 disposed opposing to the development roll and forming a magnetic brush 10 of a two-component developer comprising toner 5 and a carrier 4 is used to develop a latent image on the electrostatic latent image carrier 3 by applying a first DC bias and an AC bias on the development roll 2, supplying a second DC bias on the magnetic roll 1, and forming a toner thin layer 6 on the development roll 2 by the potential difference between the first and second DC bias and by the AC bias. The toner used is a chemical toner having ≤20 CV value defined by (standard deviation in the distribution of volume particle diameter/volume average particle diameter)×100, and ≥0.96 average circularity defined by the average of circumference length of a circle having the same area as the projection area of a particle/circumference length of the particle projection image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
