PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent compact container capable of being manufactured at a low cost and demonstrating an excellent free stop function (the function that a lid body can be stopped at an optional position) over a long period of time with excellent appearance. SOLUTION: The compact container is provided with: a container body 1; 2; projected parts A and A' provided on the side of the container body 1; a projecting part B provided on the side of the lid body 2; a pair of left and right hinge shaft insertion holes 30 and 31 formed from the projecting parts A and A' to the projecting part B; and a pair of hinge shafts 32 and 33 made of synthetic resin inserted respectively to the hinge shaft insertion holes 30 and 31. The left and right hinge shaft insertion holes 30 and 31 are set such that the center axes of thereof do not overlap on the same straight line. The left and right hinge shafts 32 and 33 are deflected and deformed due to the turning of the lid body 2, and turning is limited to such a degree that the lid body 2 is stopped at an optional position and the position is held.
