PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for starting and controlling, smoothly starting an engine even when an LPI engine is partially cooled. SOLUTION: A fuel pump is operated by inputting cooling water temperature, intake air temperature, and fuel temperature in a fuel line when a starting key is switched on. It is determined as a partial cooling condition when the cooling water temperature and intake air temperature are at a reference value or more and difference between the fuel temperature and a fuel temperature when the engine is not operated is at the reference value or more. After lapse of a step that a lamp is lighted for a predetermined time and fuel is not injected, the inside temperature of an injector is selected by the intake air temperature, cooling water temperature and fuel temperature in the fuel line. A target fuel pressure is found out, and fuel pressure in the fuel line is determined whether or not it reaches the target fuel pressure. When not reaching the target fuel pressure, fuel is not injected. After reaching the target fuel pressure, fuel injection is started, and the starting of the engine is completed.
