PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing and controlling engine reverse rotation preventing the reverse rotation of an engine at the time of starting. SOLUTION: This method includes a determination step of a reverse rotation monitoring condition, determining whether or not a set engine reverse rotation monitoring condition is fulfilled; a determination step of starter motor operation propriety, determining whether or not the operation of a starter motor is canceled when the reverse rotation monitoring condition is fulfilled; a determination step of the presence or absence of occurrence of the reverse rotation, determining whether or not the engine is reversely rotated when the operation of the starter motor is canceled; and an engine driving canceling step canceling one or more controls on engine fuel injection and ignition when the engine is reversely rotated.
