PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door device for an elevator capable of closing a clearance between the lower end of a sliding door and the lower edge section of an entrance with the sliding door being lowered when necessary at the position where the sliding door completely closes the entrance. SOLUTION: An operating piece 24 is displaced by the operation of an operation mechanism 29 at the time of occurrence of a fire, so that a hoisting piece 19 is lowered. Accordingly, the sliding door 10 is lowered to a side edge part of the entrance 2, and the lower face of the sliding door 10 comes into contact with the lower edge section of the entrance 2. Therefore, downward/upward movement of the sliding door 10 is eliminated in each opening/closing operation of the sliding door 10 at ordinary time, which prevents operation efficiency degradation due to an increase of the time necessary for opening/closing of the entrance 2 caused by an extra operation of the sliding door 10 at ordinary time. Furthermore, the generation of uncomfortable noises at the opening/closing operation of the sliding door 10 is prevented, thus the installation environment of the elevator is kept silent.
