PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing apparatus, which is simple, hardly fails, and facilitates maintenance work. SOLUTION: The sealing apparatus has a sealing iron reciprocating mechanism 10, which is formed by spanning a drive sprocket 11 and a driven sprocket 12 with an endless chain 13, which are arranged apart, mounting a reciprocating member 16 with an annexed sealing iron 15 on the endless chain 13 via a pin 14, and attaching a transmitting means 17 on both outward path end and return path end of the reciprocating member 16. The apparatus also has a mechanism 20 for clipping a sealing part of a packaging bag, which makes a roller 23 move up onto and gets out of a projection 22 of a slide cam 21 to allow an underside sealing iron 15b to move up and down when the reciprocating member 16 travels along the outward/return paths. The apparatus further includes a constant speed feeding/fast return mechanism, which is formed by mounting a sprocket 33 with a built-in one-way clutch on the output shaft of a constant speed motor 31 and a sprocket 34 on the output shaft of a high-speed motor 32, and spanning both sprockets 33, 34 and a sprocket 35 fitted in the shaft 11s of the drive sprocket 11 with an endless chain 36, and makes the high-speed motor 32 stop on the outward path upon receiving a signal from the transmitting means 17 and operate on the return path.
