<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subject determining program capable of minimizing the computational load of a computer when the computer is made to function as a device for determining a subject in an image to be examined. <P>SOLUTION: In a control device 70 in a digital still camera, a CPU 70a that is in the process of executing the subject determining program 73 in a flash memory 70f obtains image data from an analog/digital converter 20 through a first interface circuit 70c and then calculates product-moment correlation coefficients between each model image data 71 in the flash memory 70f and each part within the image data obtained, to create the two-dimensional distribution data of the product-moment correlation coefficients.
