PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-quality digital video signal wherein the occurrence of a moire phenomenon is prevented, and to generate such a digital video signal at high speed. SOLUTION: An image of an object is picked up by a CCD 1 to output an imaging signal, the color of the outputted imaging signal is separated into a plurality of different chrominance signals by a color separating circuit 4, band limiting is performed by low-pass filters 5-10 for each separated chrominance signal, and a vertical contour correcting signal is generated from the band-limited chrominance signals by a vertical APC circuit 11, so that a chrominance signal for generating the vertical contour correcting signal can be acquired together with a chrominance signal for a video signal (digital video signal).
