PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor unit for an air conditioner capable of enhancing a cooling effect of a heating element by suppressing transfer of heat of the heating element mounted on a control board, and favorably transferring the heat to a heat sink. SOLUTION: In the outdoor unit for the air conditioner, the control board 33 mounted with the heating element 38a is housed in an electrical component box 7. An attachment part for attaching the control board 33, and a heat sink attachment part 65 for attaching the heat sink 39 for cooling the heating element 38a are provided in parallel with each other in the electrical component box 7. The heating element 38a is attached to the control board 33 via a holder 40, the holder 40 has a holding part housing the heating element 38a, and a pedestal 54 abutting on one part of the heating element is provided in the housing part.
