<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the loss of a received signal when the signal reception by a reception part restarts power supply to a body control part. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 3 comprises the body control part 10 for centrally controlling an apparatus body, a power supply part 11 for supplying power to each block, a power control part 12 for controlling power supply from the power supply part 11 to the body control part 10, and a communication part 13 for executing external communication. The power control part 12 normally executes power supply to the body control part 10, interrupts it when a given condition is met, and restarts it when the communication part 13 receives an external signal during the interruption. The body control part 10 executes starting processing upon power supply.
