<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lighten the performance in print processing using character data and to reduce consumption of memory. <P>SOLUTION: When print data including a character code is received from a client unit and its document image is printed, character data transmitted from a client personal computer 30 is received. The character data is designated by a list index and font data in such a list structure format as the character data of one character and each list having next address are cascaded is stored in the DRAM 3a of a printer 3. A correspondence table of each character code and list index is stored in the DRAM 3a. Based on the received print data, list index of the character code is specified using the character code as a key, character data of the character code is read out from the font data in list structure format stored in the DRAM 3a and then the character of the character code is printed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
