<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase water production by increasing hydrogen consumption by changing the driving point of a fuel cell when pure water for humidifying a solid polymer electrolyte is lacking. <P>SOLUTION: A pure water pump 9 humidifies a solid polymer electrolyte membrane of a fuel cell stack 2 by circulating pure water from a pure water tank 8 to the fuel cell stack 2. When the water level of the pure water detected by a water level sensor 11 has become lower than a specified value, a controller 13 lowers the operating temperature to shift the current-voltage characteristic curve of the fuel cell stack 2 toward the low-voltage side, and thereby increases the current to be taken out so as to increase the amount of water produced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
