<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gloss control device only applying gloss to a part where gloss is necessary on a sheet or images in each sheet. <P>SOLUTION: The gloss control device 4 is provided separated from a fixing device 3 in the downstream side of the sheet carrying direction of the fixing device 3 heat fixing an image 2 on the sheet 1 and applies gloss to one part or the whole of the image 2 on the sheet 1. A cooling means 5 cooling the sheet 1 ejected from the fixing device 3, a gloss applying range selecting means 6 selecting the gloss applying range, to which the gloss is applied in the image range of the sheet 1 and a cooling control means 7 carrying out the cooling action by the cooling means 5 according to the gloss applying range selected by the gloss applying range selecting means 6 are provided.
