A hinge for windows comprises two components 1, 2 one of which has a body 3 with a mounting flange 5 at one end and a projecting boss 8 at the other end and the other of which has a body 10 with a mounting flange 12 at one end and a cylindrical cavity which opens to the other end and into which the boss extends, the boss being surrounded by a radially expandable collar 16, 17 which is adapted to be gripped, to a greater or lesser degree, between the boss and the internal surface of the cavity by axial adjustment of a screw 19 engaging a tapped hole in the first component. The halves 16, 17 of the collar, which are made of nylon and are separated longitudinally, are formed with longitudinal grooves 18 engaging ribs 9 on the boss to prevent relative rotation between the collar and the first component. The mounting flanges may be detachably secured to the bodies of the two components. |
