The power transistor switches off the charging current after reaching a defined cell voltage. A switching transistor compares the cell voltage with a diode voltage. The switching transistor between the collector and emitter conducts if the cell voltage exceeds the diode voltage plus the emitter-base voltage of the transistor.</p>
